WHAT IS EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION?
ANSWER:
Emergency Contraception (EC) is a concentrated dose of the hormones used in regular birth control pills. If taken up to 5 days following sexual assault, unprotected sex, or contraceptive failure, EC can prevent pregnancy. The sooner EC is taken, the better it works - EC is most effective when taken within 24 hours of unprotected sex or sexual assault.
